Public meeting July 21, 2005 about consolidtated Plutonium-238 production at INL.
Released :
July 05 2005
The scope and intricacies of the Department of Energy’s (DOE) proposed plan to consolidate the production of all plutonium-238 manufactured in the United States at the Idaho National Laboratory (INL) are complex, but not enough to obfuscate a clear understanding of the risks. The DOE is coming to town to hear what Jackson has to say about this project on Thursday, July 21 at 7:00 p.m. at Snow King. Please call our office with questions about this project, read the article that was on the front page of the New York Times last week http://www.nytimes.com/2005/06/27/politics/27nuke.html. You can also download the Guest Shot editorial about this plan from our executive director, Mary Woollen Mitchell, below. If we are going to protect our community and each other from the harm posed by this haphazard plan of nuclear alchemy, we need your voice.
